The planet is in the aptly named Zantha system.Zanthamun has seven moons, the largest being a hub for travel in the system. The planet is located on the Salin Corridor trade route. The planet has a large series of rings around it and sits within a vast asteroid field. Due to this, landing on the planet without assistance from officials is nearly impossible.Zanthamun has a rotational period of 30 standard hours and an orbital period of 354 standard days.Physical InformationZanthamun is a class terrestrial planet, with a diameter of 13,000 kilometers. The atmosphere is breathable, and the terrain is primarily grasslands, savanna, and tropical seasonal forests, though tundra and icy mountains exist at the poles.Societal InformationThe native species of Zanthamun are the Nessuni. The planet is also settled by the Sánthalora people and those who immigrated to the planet following the Zantha Civil War. Finally, one state, Napus, is primarily occupied by Hive, a genetic offshoot of the planetary population and caused by a virus, which rose to power during the Bloom Crisis (77-72 BBY). > The Nessuni evolved on Zanthamun, living on the upper continent of Elmvaria. Due to the planet's gravity, they're slightly shorter than humans. The Nessuni settled on the rocky coasts of Elmvaria, but didn't venture out past the water.
Dawn of the Jedi (c. 25,025 BBY)
> The Nessuni's close connection with the Force begins to develop into the Gothanism faith.
Expansionist Period (25,000 BBY)
> Zanthamun is first observed by explorers on the Perlemian Trade Route.> The planet is hit by a large meteor strike, which strikes a fatal blow to the Nessuni food supply, as ash blots out the sun for several years. There is mass famine, disease, and starvation.
Millennia before the Imperial Era
> Refugees fleeing the Zygerrian Slave Empire crash land on Zanthamun on a stolen freighter class vessel and encounter the dwindling Nessuni population. Despite the refugees also on the brink of starvation, both groups use the remaining supplies brought by the refugees to save both their people from exinction. The refugees later settled on the Attiss-Napus continent, south of Elmvaria, leaving the northern continent for the Nessuni.
> The Gothanism faith begins to incorporate aspects of the refugees' beliefs in gilmath - or heroes - which are legendary figures in the refugees' oral history. These gilmath evolve to the Gothan concept of mundajenth (prophets).
22,000–5000 BBY
> Refugees on Napus-Attiss develop a thriving society, often trading with their Nessuni neighbors in the north. Zanthamun remains isolationist during this time, though several Zantha begin to reverse engineer the technology on the now-ancient freighter, and couple this with the Nessuni knowledge of flight.
Wars of the Old Republic (c. 5000 – c. 1000 BBY)
Battles with the Jedi (c. 5000 BBY)
> A fleet of refugees from the Great Hyperspace War and the destruction on Coruscant approach Zanthamun, but struggle to navigate the vast asteroid field and rings surrounding the planet. A team of Zantha astronomers contacts the fleet and coaches them through the field, allowing them to safely land on the planet. Following this incident, discussions begin regarding Zanthamun's need for a space control center, as the planet is quickly becoming a hub for beings looking for a safe planet, isolated from the surrounding chaos in the galaxy.
> Production begins on spacecraft, and Zantha settle the planet's largest moon as a command center.
> An agricultural colony is settled in a smaller, southern continent, in a region known as Lahria.
c. 5000 – c. 1000 BBY
> Trade between Zanthamun and the rest of the galaxy opens up.
Defeat of the Sith (1032 BBY)
> Civil war breaks out on Zanthamun between the beings living on Attiss-Napus, with Napus preferring to preserve the leadership of the royal family, descended from the original refugees, and Attiss seeking to establish a more democratic form of government.
> Many flee to previously unsettled places, including the Ahrria region on the south eastern continent.
> With the help of the Nessuni, a peace deal is brokered, with Attiss-Napus splitting into two regions with separate governments. Soon after, other political lines are drawn, with the south eastern continent dividing into the Ahrria and Lahria region, and the habitable region of the eastern continent becoming Liber. The Nessuni maintain their ruling claim on Elmvaria.
> As Zantha begin to travel more freely between the regions, the Planetary Congress is established, with each region sending seven representatives to vote on matters pertaining to the wellbeing of the entire planet. Shortly after, the Fellowship is created, an assembly of six composed of each regions' leader.
Reformation of the Republic (c. 1000 BBY)
> A seventh region, Kawato, is settled on the previously unhabitable icy region in Liber's north. This region quickly becomes a modern hub for technology and science. The Fellowship adds a seventh member.
c. 1000 – c. 500 BBY
> Zanthamun joins the Republic and the Galactic Senate. The Fellowship adds an eighth member, who serves as the planet's representative in the Galactic Senate, but does not vote as a member of the Fellowship. The Fellowship, which was traditionally a symbolic force, begins to meet and discuss high-level issues and the planet's role in the Republic. It is eventually established that the Planetary Congress works on terrestrial issues, while the Fellowship works on extraterrestrial ones.
High Republic Era (c. 500 – 100 BBY)
> Jedi and Republic pathfinder teams begin frequent trips to explore Zanthamun, and a Jedi temple is later established in Attiss. This is not without controversy, however, as many of the Gothan faith see the Jedi institution as a harbinger of doom and an attempt to control what should not be controlled. While the Zantha relationship with the Force used to be more open, many Zantha begin to hide the more mystical side of Gothanism, especially from their offspring. They instead wait until their children are of age, for fear the Jedi will take them if they are detected as Force-sensitive from a young age.
c. 100 – 32 BBY
The Bloom Crisis
> 77 BBY - A mystery virus infected the capital of Napus, later traced to a village near the south pole of Attiss. This virus assimilated the infected population into what came to be called "The Hive," a one-minded being determined to spread their unification. Though the Hive was mostly peaceful, negotiations left other states to cordon off Napus until further arraignments to contain the spread could be made. The Hive later agreed to limit their reach to Napus.> 72 BBY - Documents come to light which show Kawato and Attiss intelligence breached Napus during the crisis and spread a vaccine among the uninfected population, which is what slowed and eventually stopped the spread. This vaccine was later introduced to yearly vaccine requirements among the Zantha population. The Hive condemned this action and created a strain that could be injected to bypass the vaccine. The Hive later then split itself into two factions, but later the more peaceful faction won out, and the Hive agreed that no more beings would be forcibly infected.
Fall of the Republic (32–19 BBY)
Prelude to galactic war (32–22 BBY)
> Zanthamun gifts Naboo a sculpture crafted in Ahrria to celebrate the planet's liberation following the defeat of the Trade Federation Droid Army.
Clone Wars (22–19 BBY)
> 22 BBY - Zanthamun's Fellowship votes 4-3 and remains in the Republic, despite many surround star systems leaving for the Confederacy of Independent Systems.> 21 BBY -> 20 BBY -> 19 BBY -
Clone Wars (continued; 19 BBY)

> The Nessuni are the original people of Zanthamun, living on the upper continent of Elmvaria. Due to the planet's gravity, they're slightly shorter than humans. The Nessuni settled on the rocky coasts of Elmvaria, but didn't venture out past the continent until the arrival of the refugees. Today, the Nessuni are the largest demographic on the planet, overcoming near extinction around 25,000 BBY, where their population dwindled to only 10,000.BiologyDue to the planet's gravity, the Nessuni are slightly shorter than the Sánthalora or humans. Their skin tones range from pink, brown, grey, or black. They have bat-like ears and large wings that function as a secondary set of arms. Their hair is black by birth, though it is bleached white by the sun by the age of 10. The Nessuni have sharp, fang like teeth, and a rhinarium nose. Their eyes are entirely black, and contain a tapetum lucidum that reflects light.HybridsSome Nessuni hybrids exist with other species. These hybrids often have a combination of Nessuni and other traits.
The Sánthalora people can originally be traced to refugees fleeing the Zygerrian Slave Empire. Evidence from Sánthalora genetic history traces their roots to the Arkanian Offshoots, a sub-species of the Arkanian race and genetically engineered by Arkanian scientists. This evidence is also supported by Sánthalora oral history. Some argue that the origin of the Zantha word "Sánthalora" (which translates to "Born of the Ark") is additional evidence towards Arkanian linage, though other scholars argue that this word may be derived from the ship (ark) the Sánthalora arrived to Zanthamun on.Despite limited supplies after arriving to Zanthamun, the Sánthalora worked with the local Nessuni population, at the time suffering a famine, to save both their people from extinction. The Sánthalora settled on the Attiss-Napus continent, south of Elmvaria, leaving the northern continent for the Nessuni. The Sánthalora develop a thriving society, often trading with their Nessuni neighbors in the north. Future refugees from other galactic conflict later diversified the Sánthalora population. However, tensions flared between the original Sánthalora people and the newer arrivals, leading to the Zantha Civil War around 1032 BBY. Half the population sought to keep the leadership of the now-royal family, descended from the original Sánthalora, while others sought to establish a more democratic form of government. The war caused further settlement of Zanathamun, as some fled the war. The following peace deal also led to the establishment of several distinct states on Zanthamun and both the Planetary Congress and Fellowship. The term "Sánthalora" now refers to descendants of the non-Nessuni population on Zanthamun, who arrived before the Zantha Civil War. This term is often extended, though, to anyone who has lived on the planet long enough for their hair to be bleached white (approximately 10 years), though this is a contested topic. The Sánthalora are the second-largest demographic on the planet.BiologyThe Sánthalora are genetically similar to both humans and the Arkanian Offshoots, with blue eyes, tan to dark brown skin, and silver-grey hair, which is usually bleached white by the Zantha sun around the age of 10. The Sánthalora also typically have dark outlines to their eyes, often mistaken as eyeliner, and tend to have deeper inset eyes than average humans.
In 77 BBY a mystery virus infected the capital of Napus, later traced to a village near the south pole of Attiss. This virus assimilated the infected population into what came to be called "The Hive," a one-minded being determined to spread their unification. Following a vaccination campaign from the other states, the Hive split into two factions, Hive-huâ and Hive-kwâ.Hive-huâ - The majority and more peaceful of the two factions, which ultimately agreed to only infect others by the choice of the host.Hive-kwâ - A smaller faction that led to the development of a secondary Hive strain. While still expansion-minded, Hive-kwâ limited the spread of the strain to the vaccinated who still wanted to become part of the Hive.BiologyMembers of the Hive display silver eyes and superior physical abilities. They cannot be startled or experience fear, and the Hive can communicate with the rest of its members telepathically. Whatever one Hive member knows, the rest also know, though it has been seen in some cases where Hive members will hide information from others (such as in the rift between Hive-huâ and Hive-kwâ.
The Republic of Zanthamun is composed of seven states: Attiss, Napus, Liber, Ahrria, Lahria, Kawato, and Elmvaria. These states each send thirteen representatives to vote on issues in the capitol city of Ender, to create a congress composed of 91 representatives.
Each state tends to vote along the following lines:Attiss - What is the best for social progress?
Napus - What is best for the people?
Liber - What is the most free?
Ahrria - What is the best for the arts?
Lahria - What is the best for agriculture?
Kawato - What is the best for technology?
Elmvaria - What is the best for the environment?
Each state in Zanthamun is considered to be a self-governing nation. However, each state is split into 13 regions, and each state sends a representation from these regions to the Planetary Congress, composed of 91 total representatives. This congress votes on matters pertaining to the well-being of the entire planet.Zanthamun also has a Fellowship, an assembly of six composed of each regions' leader. After Zanthamun joined the Republic and the Galactic Senate, the Fellowship added an eighth member, who serves as the planet's representative in the Galactic Senate, but does not vote as a member of the Fellowship. The Fellowship, which was traditionally a symbolic force, begins to meet and discuss high-level issues and the planet's role in the Republic. It is eventually established that the Planetary Congress works on terrestrial issues, while the Fellowship works on extraterrestrial ones.Controversies> Some argue that the Congress is unfairly biased to regions more sparsely populated, with those regions having the same representation as a city, as each region gets one representative. This is exacerbated by the fact that the Fellowship is formed on a per-state basis but does not account for population size.> The moons of Zanthamun are not self-governing and are considered to be governed by the Fellowship.
The planet's primary language is Zantha, a creole language that originated between the Nessuni and original refugees on the planet.

OverviewGothanism is a religion observed by the majority of the Zanthamun population. Its followers, known as Gothans, believe in a wide range of prophets and "miracle workers," whom Gothans also believe had a close connection with a central creator. These prophets are treated much like saints are, and Gothans believe that a close relationship with their creator can bring about supernatural abilities.DeitiesGothans believe in three major deities.>Thaal - God of light and knowledge, associated with the sun and stars. Cheeky and childlike, active and listening to prayer.>Ombra - God of darkness and peace, associated with the sky and night. Calm and ancient, can only be observed through deep meditation. Purveyor of truth.>Andira - Goddess of the moon and heavenly bodies, thought to be the conduit between the gods and mortals, with the ability to walk in the mortal world. Cunning and devious, thought to have the ability to shapeshift. Associated with chaos, innovation, and transformation.BeliefsGothans typically believe in the power of meditation and prayer as a way to strengthen one's connection with the creator. They also believe that dreams are a conduit for revelations and indicate a heightened sense of spirituality. There are five core tenants of Gothanism, including:> Character - One must be continually working to improve their character and sense of self. Self-improvement is especially important.> Faith - One must be loyal and faithful to others, and expect the best from people even in difficult times.> Exploration - One must continually push the boundaries of knowledge and seek to discover more about the world around them.> Mutual Respect - All living beings must be treated with respect. Community service is a core part of this tenant.> Pacifism - Gothans believe in antiviolent solutions first, and never striking the first blow.Gothans have a more nuanced version of life after death, and believe that upon death, an individual's "Oversoul" is sent to "The World Between Worlds," a purgatory of sorts where they are able to reunite with family members and friends from previous lives, at least those who have remained in The World Between Worlds. When ready, individuals can chose to be reincarnated and go back to the "Overland." Individuals can continually be reincarnated, but will only remember their past lives upon reaching the World Between Worlds again. Individuals who live a remarkable life (prophets), are given the chance to live in Wonderland, a rumored paradise at the end of all lives. Individuals who are particularly malevolent can be sent to the Badlands, where there is no escape until the end times.Gothans believe that the end times will be ushered in once humans have successfully discovered "the truth of the universe," and this drives many Gothans to go into scientific fields in order to contribute to the accumulation of knowledge. Gothans believe that in the end times, there will be a period of turmoil followed by Wonderland enveloping the universe, leading to paradise for all, both good and bad.HolidaysGothans have religious holidays throughout the year that observe the births of important prophets. These holidays are marked with celebration and include, feasts, fireworks, and gift-giving.One particularly unique holiday is Oversoul Day, celebrated on the Terran equivalent of October 24th yearly. On this day, Gothan's believe that the borders between the Overland and the World Between Worlds is particularly thin, and this day is used to commemorate family and friends who have passed on. Families and friends will light candles in memory of loved ones and children often celebrate with parades and pagents. Gothans will often practice gratitude for life on this day as well, earning it the colloquial name "Gothan Thanksgiving."Gothans believe in a strong bond with other galactic religions, and often enjoy scholarship and co-observation with them.Worship
Gothans are notable for their all-white worship outfits. Typical worship is done on the evening on one night and the morning of another, with Gothans gathering at their local temples. Gothan worship is physical, with Gothans performing sequenced movements (kola) for various prayers. Evening worship is typically a physical training-type session in the various prayers, with morning being more meditative.
Zanthamun has twelve universities where its students can seek higher education. Broken down by state, they are listed below.Attiss
University of Al Sánplin Mékwâ - translating to "University of the Beautiful Lake," USM is a liberal arts school located on the lake in one of the smaller boroughs outside Attiss' capital. The school is known for its strong humanities department and quirky demeanor.Attiss State University -Deñ Émkon College -NapusZanae University - translating to "The People's University" is the oldest university in Zanthamun. The school offers free tuition to all Zanthans.Napus Academy - Napus Academy is Zanthamun's only military school, known for its low acceptance rate and difficult entry exam. The school is known for its excellent sports teams and music program, and is rivals with ZCS. Though seemingly robotic at times, the students are generally seen as chivalrous, bright, and level-headed, if not a little brainwashed.LiberHuâthae Zej Community School - translating to "Our Skies Community School," ZCS is Liber's only university. Though most of their offerings are considered "below average" for the country, the school boasts an impressive flight school, and many of its students are scouted to study further at Napus Academy, also the school's bitter rival. ZCS is known for it's anarchic, out-of-the-box approach to education, with students spending more of their time planning their next blaster scrimmage than studying for their exams.AhrriaAnéa Sise Tha Rico Conservatory - named for a famous Zanthan opera singer, ASC is a highly-regarded school for students wishing to pursue musical education and performance. Even out of class, the students can be found playing music together in various student-run ensembles, and exploring the conservatory's historic buildings, performance spaces, and gardens.Ahrria College of Arts -LahriaUniversity of Lahria and State Agricultural College -Al Mun School - translating to "The Faith School," Al Mun School is a religious institution.KawatoKawato Institute of Technology -ElmvariaGόlith Zérd College -
Zanthamun's state of Liber is home to two Mafia families, and the Morning Glory Cartel.
